RIDE INTO MAY
Junior Summer Skills Camp
In June we will offer a multi-day Junior skills and riding camp.  The camp will run three days from 9 am to around 12:00 noon.  The camp will run the full spectrum of group riding and beginning racing skills.  Most of the focus will be on road cycling, but many of the basic skills, drills and techniques can be very helpful for mountain biking and cyclocross or gravel riding.  Cost will be $100.00 for all three days.  Dates will be in June.  Contact Mike @ Daiendurance.com for information.
Summer Junior Racing Opportunities
Many junior mountain bikers in the area have been asking about opportunities to ride and race on the road during their vacation months.  We are Dai are committed to offering opportunities to expose junior riders to the thrills of road racing. We will offer club memberships to high school mountain bikers and junior riders for free through the Dai Junior Endurance Program.  We can also provide special pricing on club kits and offer our racing experience and guidance so that junior riders can effectively participate in local Norcal races.  If we have enough interest, we are happy to organize a trip to Hagerstown, MD for the USA Cycling Junior National Road Championships.  This is a golden opportunity for young riders to instantly get on the list of athletes able to participate in USA Cycling Junior European Development Programs.

Please contact Mike@Daiendurance.com for information on both summer racing opportunities and the USA Cycling 2018 Junior National Road Championships.

This is just the first step in the long term commitment we have to offer opportunities for young people to participate in cycling.

2018 Club Kits
We have a good size selection of our 2018 Dai! EnduranceCycling kits and the new design looks great.  This year we ordered extra women’s specific kits, and Sportful was our manufacturer of choice in 2018.  Please come by or email us for sizing and pricing.
The Heat is Coming
As we get into summer, it is important to remember that training in excessive heat can be extremely detrimental to your health.  Just like in winter, we are able to offer a controlled environment so you can get the most out of your training time.  We offer our ipads, fans, showers and TV’s for you to use your Zwift account or the Dai shop account.  In addition, we have begun using our Perf Pro group training platform with custom designed workouts.  So, come in, stay cool and healthy this summer when the heat breaks 90 degrees and the air quality is reaches unhealthy levels.
The World of Bike Racing Is Changing: Indoor Bike Racing
Many have noticed the decline in the attendance of standard road racing type events which include road races, time trial and criterium racing.  With that, the destination and experience events like Haute Routes or the Stetina Sierra Prospect, gravel events like the Lost and Found event and mountain bike events such as our local Wednesday night twilights or the Tahoe Trail 100, which is a Leadville qualifier, are gaining in popularity and attendance.  Now enter indoor bike racing.  A new league has formed using the Zwift platform, and as of now, looks to be relatively successful.  The league is called the CVR World Cup League and can be found at CVRworldcup.com.  You form an account, pick your competition time and are assigned a group to race.  Races take place on Tuesday’s, and if you make it to the finals you can win cold, hard cash.  This is where the sport is going for the time being, and looks interesting at the very least.  We at Dai are working with the CVR to see if we can form a partnership for the Tuesday competitions.  Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.  Check out the league, all the rules and information at www. cvrworldcup.com, and contact us if you would like to use our resources to compete.
Tour of California!
May is here and that means the biggest bike race in America is coming to Norcal.  Tour of California will take place from May 13 to 19 for the men and May 17 to 19 for the ladies.  The entire ladies Tour of California will take place around our area with stages in Elk Grove, South Lake Tahoe and Sacramento.  The men’s event will be run in the south to north format with the race starting in Long Beach and visiting the climb to Gibralter in Santa Barbara on stage 2, Laguna Seca on stage 3, coming to a Folsom start on stage 6 and finishing here in Sacramento, just 10 block from Dai, on stage 7.

This year, I will be driving VIP car 3 for the the men’s event.  Local boy wonder and Dai client, Nielson Powless will be starting the race this year for the Dutch World Tour Team Lotto-Jumbo, and his sister, also a Dai client and Associate Coach, Shayna Powless will compete for the women’s Twenty-Twenty Pro Racing Team in the women’s race.  This years event will be loaded with nearly all World Tour Teams which makes it one of the most coveted and competitive races on the UCI World Tour calendar.

Look for a full recap and some insider information and stories in our June newsletter.  Check out all the information on stages and when to come out to see the best riders in the world at amgentourofcalifornia.com.
