As a competitive rider as well as a weekend warrior, it isn’t that simple any more.

With certifications from Specialized and Medicine of Cycling, our system starts with an interview to understand the rider; his or her goals, current training, pain or discomfort on the bike as well as past injuries or trauma. We then conduct a twenty-point physical assessment to understand how the rider physically presents off the bike. The bike is then fit to the individual based on the off-bike interview and assessment. While cycling is low impact, the rider is locked at the foot and hip making repetitive movements over extended periods of time, and if not positioned correctly over the bottom bracket, can lead to over-use injuries and jeopardize power output. Our team understands that frame size, saddle height and fore/aft — as well as handlebar and cleat positioning are critical components to successful cycling. It ensures that your childhood Schwinn experience lives on in your 20s to your 60s.

While cycling is low-impact, the cyclist is locked at the hip and foot, making a repetitive movement over extended periods of time. As a consequence if the rider is not appropriately positioned on the bike, the knee can become the victim. In our bike fit, we take time to understand each individual’s goals, fitness, current training and history. We also spend time to understand how the individual presents off the bike, in order to properly fit the bike to that individual’s particular ranges of motion and flexibility. We use these individual “specs” to guide the manipulation of the bike, resulting in a position that optimizes comfort, power output and performance. Finally, we understand, that improving an individual’s fit, is much more than simply manipulating the bike, and as such we provide the cyclist with suggestions and specific off-bike exercise strategies to improve their on-bike experience.

2D SIMI Motion Capture Bike Fit

Fundamentals of The Dai Endurance 2D Fit:

  • Fit protocol utilizes aspects from systems developed by US National Cycling team; Specialized Body Geometry fit system; and Chris Powers, USC Movement Performance Institute (MPI)
  • Explanation of efficient pedaling biomechanics and technique
  • In-depth 20-point physical and flexibility assessment
  • Prioritizes tailoring fit to the individual’s range of motion and flexibility, and biomechanical strengths and weaknesses
  • Fit balances the individual’s comfort with the optimal power output/aerodynamic position
  • Advanced cleat, saddle and handlebar positioning
  • Proper use of arch supports and stance width adjustments
  • Positioning for specific medical conditions
  • SIMI Motion Capture video analysis utilized to capture sagittal view, with key identified pedal stroke positions to ensure accurate joint angles
  • Includes guidance on strategies (developed at EXOS and Movement Performance Institute, MPI) to improve flexibility, strength and neuromuscular activation to continue to optimize muscle recruitment, biomechanics, position and power output
  • Report with video captured, lower/upper body sagittal key pedal stroke positions (pre and post fit) as well as pre and post measurements provided

Cost: Road, cyclo-cross or mountain bike @ $250; TT bike $300, with one follow-up fit within six months. Additional follow-up fits $100.

  • Proper use of arch supports and stance width adjustments
  • Positioning for specific medical conditions
  • SIMI Motion Capture video analysis utilized to capture lower/upper body sagittal, posterior and frontal views with identified key pedal stroke positions, to ensure accurate joint angles
  • Includes guidance on strategies (developed at Athletes’ Performance and Movement Performance Institute, MPI) to improve flexibility, strength and neuromuscular activation to continue to optimize muscle recruitment, biomechanics, position and power output
  • Report with video captured, upper and lower body sagittal and posterior views of key pedal stroke positions (pre and post fit from the sagittal and posterior view) as well as pre and post measurements provided
